In a ceremony that will take place on the first day of the New Year, Daniel Craig will receive the medal of the Order of St. Michael and St. George, an order held by the character he plays, James Bond, writes dailymail.co.uk. The 53-year-old actor was honored with a medal awarded to diplomats and high-ranking spies for their services. Craig played the role of the fictional spy Bond from 2006 until this year, with his latest film, No Time To Die, being released on September 30th.

In the book From Russia with Love, an intelligence chief states that 007 “was decorated with this Order in 1953, the Order being a recognition usually granted only upon withdrawal from the Secret Service.” Craig is credited with being a true spy working in a foreign country or doing great service to the Commonwealth’s foreign affairs.

Prior to the release of No Time To Die this year, Daniel was named honorary commander of the Royal Navy, another rank held by his character.

Daniel first played Bond in Casino Royale in 2006, before appearing in Quantum Of Solace in 2008, Skyfall in 2012 and Specter in 2015.
