Portugal registered 23,290 new infections with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus in the last 24 hours, plus 21 deaths associated with covid-19 and a slight reduction in hospital admissions, according to figures released today by the Directorate-General for Health (DGS).

The daily epidemiological bulletin of the DGS registers a small reduction in the number of hospitalized people, totaling 1023 admissions today, one less than on Friday, 142 of which in intensive care units (three fewer in the last 24 hours).

Active cases increased again in the last 24 hours, totaling 196 223, 17 511 more than on Friday, and 5758 people recovered from the disease, which increases the national total of recoveries to 1 197 737.

Of the 21 deaths, seven occurred in the North region, six in the Center, four in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, one in Alentejo, one in Algarve, one in Madeira and one in the Azores.
