Free days for absolutely all Romanians! It is the information of the moment for the employees in Romania

According to the calendar for 2022, the first small holiday will be in January – January 24 is the Day of the Union of Romanian Principalities, a legal holiday, which is why most Romanians have a day off. Given that it falls on a Monday, we can tie it to the weekend and have a mini-vacation between January 22-24.

In 2022, Orthodox Easter will fall in April – Good Friday falls on April 22, a day declared a legal holiday. So, the second mini-holiday will be between April 22 and 25.

Unfortunately, Labor Day falls on a non-working day and we cannot enjoy a holiday.

Free days in summer

This year’s calendar shows that in June there are three legal holidays: Children’s Day and Pentecost.

Children’s Day – June 1 – will fall on a Wednesday, so it can’t be tied to any weekend, while Pentecost – June 12-13 – can be joined by a weekend. So, we will have a mini vacation in June as well.

In August we have the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary – August 15 – and this legal holiday falls on a Monday. As a result, we can enjoy another mini vacation between August 13-15.

Free day at the end of the year

Saint Andrew – November 30 – falls on a Wednesday, while Romania’s National Day – December 1 – falls on a Thursday.

Depending on the decisions that the Government will take, we could have a fairly long vacation in early December.

What to do on the first day of the year?

The feast of St. Basil the Great, the bishop of Caesarea, marks the beginning of every year for Orthodox Christians everywhere. He is considered one of the greatest theologians, but also a “guardian of evil spirits.”

In addition to the church traditions, there are certain traditions of the people that tell us what we need to do today to go in the year that has just arrived. Thus, today it is good to pour wine on the table, to break a white glass, to overturn the box of matches or to give alms to a poor man, in order to be lucky.
