Video showed confusion; ITS says that dissatisfaction with the capacity limit motivated
A fight caused confusion in the line for the ferry boat at the São Joaquim Terminal, in Salvador, on Friday night (31). Responsible for administering the system, Internacional Travessias Salvador (ITS) says that the situation was in the passenger lounge and happened because of the 75% restriction in the capacity of the vessels, between 19:00 and 20:00 yesterday.
ITS says that the limitation was leaving more people without boarding. Not understanding the dynamics of the restriction, the passengers ended up getting angry and there was confusion. The trips took place every half hour yesterday, according to ITS.
The company says there is no record of injuries, but video recorded at the site shows a young man being beaten – there are no details about his health. The railings that serve to help organize the line to the box office were broken during the melee. The riot was contained by ITS private security, with support from the Military Police.
ITS regretted the incident in a note.
