Ambulances were alerted a total of 3363 times on New Year’s Eve, according to the National Ambulance Service. Of these, 809 cases required medical assistance in the capital.
In Budapest and in the big cities of the country, the period between midnight and four o’clock in the morning was especially difficult this year, the ambulance units were constantly working. Ambulances have been alerted to 18 pyrotechnic device accidents nationwide.
In addition to accidents, brawls, internal medical ailments and other cases, 181 people had to be hospitalized this year due to drunkenness and alcohol poisoning, 27 of whom were minors.
