500 plus – changes to the program from January 1

In January, the service of the 500 plus was taken over by the Social Insurance Institution. On the other hand, communes will continue to pay the already granted benefits until the end of the period for which they were granted, i.e. the end of May 2022.

Claims for childcare benefit can only be made online and the money is paid into your bank account.

– We adapt the Family 500 plus program to the expectations and needs of parents. Already today, the vast majority of applications for benefits are submitted online, and the payment of 500 plus is made by bank transfer – indicated the Minister of Family and Social Policy, Marlena Maląg. She assured that those parents who, after the changes, will need help in submitting an online application, will be able to count on support. The essence of 500 plus remains the same. It will continue to be a universal program and all children can take advantage of the support regardless of their family income. – All parents should also remember that from February 2022 a call for applications for the new benefit period will start, which will apply from June 1, 2022 – recalled Minister Maląg. According to data from the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, from the launch of the program in April 2016 until the end of 2021, PLN 175 billion was allocated to families for 500 plus. About 6.5 million children are covered by the support.

– From January 1, applications for the 500 plus benefit may only be sent electronically through the Electronic Services Platform (PUE) of the Social Insurance Institution, electronic banking and the Empatia portal. Funds from the program will be disbursed only non-cash to the bank account number indicated by the applicant – emphasized the president of the Social Insurance Institution, Prof. Gertruda Uścińska. In the event that PUE ZUS provides important information about 500 plus, parents will receive an e-mail or text message notification. The gradual takeover of the implementation of the “Rodzina 500 plus” program by ZUS means that communes will continue to pay benefits until the end of the period for which they were granted, i.e. until the end of May 2022. – People who currently receive benefits from a commune or poviat do not have to report this fact to ZUS. Until May 2022, the benefit will be paid by the same entity. In matters relating to benefits granted by local government units, you should still contact the employees of the authority that granted the benefit. The granted powers are fully preserved – assured the head of the Department. Due to the fact that from January, applications for child benefit and attachments to the application may be submitted only in electronic form, ZUS stated that it would provide all interested parties with such an opportunity. Each person – as emphasized – will be able to count on ZUS assistance in submitting these documents.
