This year, as many as 10 racing crews will represent Lithuania in Dakar – motorcyclist Arūnas Gelažninkas, ATV driver Laisvydas Kancius, Benediktas Vanagas and Portugal Filipe Palmeiro, Vaidotas Žala and Portuguese Paulo Fiuza, Antanas Juknevi Rokas Baciuška and Spaniard Oriolas Menas, Tomas Jančys and Irmantas Bražiūnas are at the starting line of light motor vehicles, Valdas Valiukevičius and Paulius Kavaliauskas are starting in the car class and Vaidotas Paškevičius, Tomas Gužauskas and Slavomir are experiencing the baptism of Dakar in the truck class.

In the “zero” speed section, better known as the prologue, athletes will have to cover a distance of 614 kilometers, of which the speed section will be 19 kilometers.

The first Lithuanian prologue to the finish was reached by motorcyclist A.Gelažininkas. He recorded in the prologue 44th time and after applying the multiplication factor (out of 5), the Lithuanian was exactly 14 minutes behind the prologue winner Daniel Sanders.

L.Kančius managed to break into the top ten in the ATV classification – he took the prologue ninth position and after the multiplication factor from the winner Manuel Andujaro performed 8 min. 25 sec

The crew of V.Žala and P.Fiuza was the first among the Lithuanians to win the prologue. He preliminarily demonstrated in the credit distance 34th result and Nassero Al-Attiyah, which is still leading, is 2 minutes behind. 13 sec.

The crew of A. Juknevičius and D. Zarinis also reached the finish of the prologue. He overcame the qualifying stretch by taking a preliminary run 41st place. A.Juknevičius was 2 minutes behind the leader. 54 sec

B. Vanagas and F. Palmeiro reached the finish line of the third stage of the prologue straight from the Lithuanian car crews. This crew crossed the qualifying stage 22nd place and 1 min behind the leaders. 31 sec
