More than 70,000 people vaccinated against flu and covid-19 on the last day of the year

More than 70,000 people were vaccinated today against the flu and covid-19, nearly 52,000 with the booster dose, while 51 children aged between 5 and 11 have been vaccinated.

According to the most recent data from the daily report of the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) on vaccination against covid-19 and flu, in mainland Portugal, 70,045 people were vaccinated this Friday.

Among vaccinated people, 51,618 took the booster dose of the vaccine against covid-19, while others 4350 completed primary vaccination e 14,026 were inoculated with the flu vaccine.

Today, 51 children aged between 5 and 11 years were also vaccinated.

Among the total number of people who have already taken the booster dose of the covid-19 vaccine, data from the DGS show that 88% of people aged 80 and over have already had the booster, an identical percentage (87%) among people with aged between 70 and 79 years.

The percentage is low in the age group from 60 to 69 years old, in which 62% of the total people have already taken the booster dose, lower even more in the age group 50-59 years old, where the percentage is only 26% of the total.

In the accumulated total, 8,695,365 people have been fully vaccinated against covid-19, 2,869,878 have taken a booster dose, and 2,418,828 are vaccinated against influenza.

Among children, 95,714 started vaccination with at least one dose.

Vaccination data are calculated daily, between 0:00 and 23:59 hours, in relation to the day before the release of the report.
