Pharmacies performed 304,582 Rapid Antigen Tests (TRAg) on December 28th and 29th, surpassing the previous maximum value, 273,089, which had been reached on December 23rd and 24th.
According to data from the National Institute of Health Doctor Ricardo Jorge, on December 23rd and 24th, 488,000 professional antigen tests were carried out in Portugal, according to a press release from the National Association of Pharmacies, which states that 273,089 of these tests were carried out in pharmacies.
The number of pharmacies carrying out tests continues to increase, with currently 1,400 across the national territory (Mainland and Autonomous Regions) carrying out professional antigen tests, the statement adds.
Between December 16 and 29, 1,200,000 tests were carried out in Portuguese pharmacies, with the highest values being 23 (159,754), 24 (114,194), 27 (119,083), 28 (147,804) and 29 (156,778) of December .
“Pharmacies remain committed to their commitment to preventing and mitigating the impact of SARS-CoV-2 infection, through the provision of this public service of national interest”, said the president of the National Association of Pharmacies, Ema Paulino, cited in the note press release.
