The Impresa group, owner of SIC and Expresso, sold a 22.35% stake it held in the Lusa agency, for 1.25 million euros. The buyer is Marco Galinha’s company, which already has a presence in other media groups, including Global Media.

“Impresa – Sociedade Gestora de Participações Socials, SA informs that it has signed, on this date, with Páginas Civilizada, LDA. the definitive purchase and sale agreement” of 476,064 shares, representing 22.35% of the share capital of Lusa – Agência de Notícias de Portugal, announced the company in a statement sent to the Portuguese Securities Market Commission (CMVM).

With each share at a par value of €2.50, the deal was made at a total price of €1.25 million. As a result of the sale value, “Impresa incurred losses and, as a result, recorded impairments in the 2020 accounts in the amount of 24,925 euros”.

Páginas Civilizada is the company through which the founder of the Bel group, Marco Galinha, is a Global Media shareholder (owner of Diário de Notícias, Jornal de Notícias or TSF), with 29.75% of the capital. The businessman had already signed another contract this year with Impresa, to buy Vasp’s stake.

The sale materializes a plan that Impresa already had, in line with the reorganization of the business to focus on the core. “This sale was carried out as part of the implementation of the Strategic Plan for the period 2020-2022, and the repositioning of Impresa’s activity, with a focus primarily on the audiovisual and digital components”, adds the company.
